Shreya’s love for patisserie began way back when she was a little girl, who would watch her mother bake all her birthday cakes while patiently waiting for leftover batter. From binge watching baking shows while day dreaming of having her own bakery one day, to completing her culinary education at Le Cordon Bleu London, Shreya always knew that being a pastry chef was her calling. Having always had a strong inclination towards the fine arts- from painting to music to design, Shreya founded Essange with the intention to incorporate art into her desserts. From gorgeous florals to modern minimal cakes, she has always believed that creativity and innovation go hand in hand. Being a perfectionist, she believes that her intricacy and attention to detail along with her aesthetic is what makes Essange stand out. Combining this with high quality ingredients and utmost importance to taste, Shreya creates products that taste as exquisite as they look.

Kritika Patel
Partner & Business Head

Kritika is a fashion buyer by training and an entrepreneur by passion. She founded and managed her own fashion brand while working as an assistant buyer at Gucci Dubai before bringing her organisational expertise to Essange. From managing the team to being our official cake taster, she has played a pivotal role in setting up our central kitchen. She not only brings to the table her business and operational know-how but also the ability to handle all the frantic chaos in the kitchen – a skill she has aced thanks to being a mother to a hyper active toddler!

Our journey

Essange was founded in 2018 as a home bakery with a vision to create innovative desserts that were aesthetically pleasing as well as full of flavour. Having always disliked the taste of fondant, Shreya main focus was creating beautiful customised desserts using only buttercream and no fondant. Many trials and recipes later, our buttercream is now our biggest USP - not too sweet, perfectly balanced and just right!
From introducing no fondant Spotify cakes to no fondant QR code cakes, innovation and great taste has always been at the heart of everything we do. With over 15,000 orders delivered, we’ve grown from a home bakery with a few orders a week to a 1400 sq ft commercial kitchen with a team of 12 as well as a retail store in one of the most prime locations of Mumbai and we are grateful to our loyal customers that have made all this possible!

The credit for our tremendous growth goes to our amazing team that consists of hardworking, creative and most importantly passionate people who love doing what they do. We have been lucky to find a workforce that is always eager to learn and striving to better our products by taking note of all of our customer’s feedback. Their dedication and collaborative effort is our biggest strength and we are so proud of each and every one of them!

Our Kitchen

This is where all the magic happens! We opened the kitchen of our dreams in 2021 and here’s a sneak peak into the space where all our delicious products are baked fresh every day! Our space has been designed keeping in mind both hygiene and functionality and consists of a separate hot and cold kitchen, a studio, cabins and a small co-working space where all our brainstorming usually happens!
